What is The Leadership Academy?

The Leadership Academy helps driven leaders with untapped potential, learn the essential leadership skills to create and drive a high-performing team.

In 16 weeks, you will emerge confident in having tough conversations that actually work, know how to hold people accountable, and have the tools necessary to build and drive your own high-performing team of ‘A players’.

You will learn the practical skills required, watch real life situations of what good leadership conversations look like in practise and complete practical exercises to ensure everything you learn can be implemented into your day-to-day life. Every 2 weeks you will have a group coaching session with Glenda, to cement and challenge learnings, and to assist with any real-life challenges or roadblocks.

    Each week you will have self-paced online training videos to be completed prior to coaching sessions. Once the modules are completed you also get lifetime access.

  • Real-life Conversations

    To successfully change your leadership, its really important to see what great leadership conversations actually look like in real life. To show you this, we’ve filmed real-life leadership conversations that you can watch over and over again.

  • Practical assignments

    Along with each training video, you will be given practical exercises to ensure you implement these new skills into your real life, and master them.

  • Coaching

    To further cement your new skills there are nine group coaching sessions conducted every two weeks. These are facilitated by Glenda to push you further, and help you practically work through any real life leadership challenges or speed wobbles.

About me

Glenda Lewis

I’m a Chief Financial Officer with a real passion for people and leadership.  I love helping curious and driven leaders be the best leader they can be.   The nucleus of “The Leadership Academy” was born out of me identifying a gap whilst working alongside my clients over the years – that behind every business or financial problem was most often a challenge in leadership and people who needed practical tools and techniques to set them up for success.  Time and time again when the leaders were given the right tools and support, the potential was endless and together the leaders and the businesses reached new levels of success.  

I have over 15 years of executive level experience, as a CFO, COO and CEO in New Zealand and overseas.  I am a technically trained CA and CPA in New Zealand and Canada, a graduate of many Harvard Business School courses, trained in Conversant Communication, as well as having a formal qualification as a CTI coach.

My training and communication style is fun and energetic.  I make a point of communicating things in a down to earth way that everyone understands whilst also ensuring that you are taught science-based facts, concepts, and ideas.  The Leadership Academy follows these values.  The Leadership Academy is a combination of training modules, enactments of real-life leadership scenarios, exercises for and supported by fortnightly coaching sessions facilitated by me.  This program is a complete wrap around approach to foundational leadership, with heavy emphasis on practical implementation.  

When I am not busy being a CFO – you will find me spending time with my husband and two young sons, cycling, eating great food and enjoying overseas travel.

  • The fortnighly coaching calls are normally on a Tuesday at 9am NZST. If a different time works better with the whole cohort, we will arrange for these to be at an alternative time.

  • Magic really goes does happen on these coaching calls, so try and attend as many as you can. However, if you need to miss one, the videos and exercises will be sufficient for you to get results.

  • The Leadership Academy is run in cohort groups so you get the benefit of learning and developing together and coaching can be more targeted. As such you must start at the start at the beginning of each cohort.   • The course will take about 60-90 minutes each week. The modules are designed to work around your life and are able to be watched in 5-15 minute increments, so can be completed in your lunch breaks, in the evening or even while you are watching your child’s swimming lessons.

  • Typically leadership courses are informative and immersive, but unsupported - so as soon as you leave you lose 80% of the knowledge and implement very little.

    The Leadership Academy is designed very differently to ensure this doesn’t occur. The Leadership Academy uses a workbook to ensure the learnings are actually implemented in your life and the coachings support you throughout and allow personalised guidenace on current challenges and speed wobbles. I have also found people need to see what ‘good’ leadership conversations look like in real life, so they can build confidence in how to have them theirselves. So the conversations in our online course are separate and can be watched over and over to assist you in having these conversations yourself.
